Moses was a prince of Egypt brought up in the Pharaoh's palace.  Acts 7:22 states that "Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians..."  Egyptian medical practices included smearing the blood of worms mixed with donkey dung into open wounds; applying the fat from horses, crocodiles, and snakes mixed with donkey teeth and honey to the scalp in order to grow hair; and drinking water poured over stone idol in order to cure snake bites.

Yet 4,000 years before mankind discovered the existence of bacteria and viruses, the Holy Spirit inspired Moses to institute modern methods of cleanliness.  Even ninth century doctors were woefully ignoring of the following procedures.  they routinely caused the death of patients by moving from dissecting dead bodies to examinineexamining patients without even washing their hands.  Here are just a few of the Bible's insights:

-Leviticus 11:35 warns against touching or bringing any cooking utensil in contact with dead animals.
-Leviticus 15:13 calls for the prevention of disease by the washing of the body and clothes under "running water"
-In Deuteronomy 23:12-13 Moses even writes of the need for proper sewage disposal.

A specific chemical in our blood called hemoglobin carries oxygen throughout our bodies.  without this specific chemical, life could not exist.  Each one of our red blood cells is capable of carrying 270 million molecules of hemoglobin.  Hemoglobin itself is such a tremendously complex molecule that it could never have developed by random-chance processes.  If even two of the 287 amino acids within the hemoglobin molecule are misplaced, a fatal disease called sicklecell anemia results.  If our blood carried less hemoglobin, there would not be enough residual oxygen available to sustain life after, say, a good sneeze or hard pat on the back.

Moses spoke about the blood being the life of our body, yet this wasn't even believed in George Washington's day.

Doctors tried to cure George Washington of his illness by draining his blood.  Many believe this medical malpractice is what killed him.  It is interesting that Moses knew better almost 4,000 years earlier.  How could Moses have been so accurate?  Was it just a lucky guess?

The Lord asked Job,  "where is the way to the dwelling of light?"  In Hebrew the word way literally means a "traveled path or road."  In the 17th century Sir Isaac Newton suggested that light was made of tiny particles which traveled in a straight line.  Christian Huygens proposed that light traveled as a wave.  Scientists now know that light is a form of energy called radiant energy, and that it travels in electromagnetic waves at approximately 186,000 miles per second in a straight line.  It takes about eight minutes for light to travel its "path" from the sun to the earth.  There really is a "way" of "path" of light, just as the Bible says.

It is absolutely amazing that the closer we look at each specific word used in the Bible, the more we can't help but stand in awe of its intricate detail. purposeful design, relevance across time, and perfect harmony.  Only God Himself could orchestrate the writing of such a book!

Prothrombin is a chemical in our body which is absolutely critical for blood clotting.  Without it, we would bleed to death with even the smallest cut.  Vitamin K is vital for the production of prothrombin by the liver.  Therefore, both vitamin K and prothrombin are necessary for life.  Newborn boys begin production of vitamin K on day five through day seven after birth.  On the eight day, a newborn male child reaches his lifetime maximum level of prothrombin.

Therefore, on the eight day after birth, a male baby has the highest clotting rate of any time in his life.  If a male baby is going to be circumcised, the eight day after birth would be the safest day for this to take place.

Isn't it interesting that over 4,000 years ago God told Abraham to have newborn males circumcised on the eight day!  Before God told Abraham to undergo this procedure, there was no trial-and-error testing to find the best day on which to circumcise a baby.  Only our Creator could have known this biological fact and have made sure that it was included in the Bible.

Matthew Fontaine Maury (1806-1873) dedicated his life to finding out if there really were "paths of the sea" as stated in Psalm 8:8.  During a long illness, Maury's son read the Bible to him and Maury was drawn to this verse.  After recovering, he began to make the study of the oceans his life's passion.

Maury was the first to recognize that the seas contained circulating systems with interaction between wind and water.  He spent decades collecting thousands of ships logs from captains and compiling their weather/travel information into a systematic understanding of the ocean's circulating patterns.

His book on physical oceanography is still considered the foundational textbook on this subject.  In 1927, the United States Naval Institute issued a book by C. L. Lewis titled Matthew Fontaine Maury: Pathfinder of the Seas, which describes Maury's work and inspiration.  Maury trusted God's Word and as a result, developed the science of oceanography.

Genesis 3:15 tells us that a female, like the male, also has the "seed of life" or a necessary part in the making of a baby.  This wasn't believed in Moses' day when it was told to Moses by God.  Ancient writers believed only the male had the seed of life and that the female was just the incubator of the baby.  One ancient Greek writer, Democritus, even suggested that male semen placed in warm mud would result in a human life in the same way sperm deposited within a female can result in a baby.

These writers were wrong, while Genesis proved to be correct.

Today we know that it takes the 23 chromsomes found in the female egg (seed) plus the 23 chromosomes found in the male sperm (seed) to make a normal human.  How could Moses have known this without God's divine guidance?

The Bible records that Abraham traveled more than 1,000 miles from the city of Ur in Chaldea... to Haram... then on to Canaan. Some critics have rejected the Bible's accuracy because of its record of Abraham's travels. They argued that travel could not have been so extensive such a long time ago.

Several years ago an ancient Babylon wagon rental contract was found on a clay tablet. The contract forbids the wagon renter from taking the wagon as far as the lands on the Mediterranean Coast. The implication from this find is that travel over such great distances was so common that mileage limitations had to be put on wagon rental contracts!

Time after time attacks on the Bible's straightforward proclamations of history and science have been proven totally inaccurate. God's Word can stand up to any and all criticism. God encourages and speaks highly of those who take time to study His Word and test its truths.

Within the oldest book of the Bible is the story of Job. This book is the account of a righteous man who is allowed to suffer enormous loss, grief, and difficulty. Job pleaded for God to reveal why he was suffering, but God did not answer Job's questions. Instead, God pointed to His own creation, power, and knowledge. In this way Job was reminded to trust God and His purposes. As part of this dialogue, God asked Job if he had ever entered the springs of the sea. We now know there are such springs off the coasts of Greece, Italy, Israel, Syria, and Australia.

In 1976 the U.S. Geological Survey also found fresh water in the Atlantic Ocean along the seacoast from New England to Georgia. How could the writer of the book of Job, which was written thousands of years before ocean exploration, have known that there were fresh water springs in the sea?

For many years academics have taught that the Bible, especially the book of Genesis, came to us as a result of traditions and story-telling. The implication is that the Bible is not the literal word of God which was guided by the Holy Spirit to be believed in a straightforward manner. We are taught that it contains exaggerations and should not be trusted to reveal true history.

According to these experts, the historical accounts in the Bible are fanciful stories written down by some unknown scribes, compiled by an unknown editor, and combined to form the Book of Genesis. Genesis is not even in story form. Genesis 5, for example, is a record of the chronological genealogy of the ancestry from Adam to Noah. There is absolutely no evidence for the idea that Genesis is merely a collection of ancient stories. It is clearly written as the account of factual historical events.

The biblical experts who teach that the Bible is a collection of ancient myths are not basing their theories on facts. Rather, their ideas are based on the mistaken theory of evolution, which includes the idea that early man could not write. Wherever we find civilized mankind, we find writing- as early as 3000 B.C.

The Mississippi river dumps an average of about six million gallons of water into the Gulf of Mexico every second. Where does all that water go? The vast surface of the ocean allows enormous amount of evaporation to take place. High in the atmosphere this invisible water vapor condenses into clouds, which produced rain or snow, which in turn fall onto land surface. The water then completes the circuit by flowing into rivers and then back into the ocean again.

No one really understood or accepted the idea of the complete water cycle until the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Pierre Perrault, Edme Mariotte, and astronomer Edmund Halley all contributed valuable data to the concept of the water cycle. Yet Solomon and Isaiah both wrote about it in the Bible.

In Ecclesiastes 1:17 King Solomon describes the water cycle as follows, "All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again." This hydrologic cycle was quite accurately described in the Bible thousands of years before it was understood scientifically.

Sheep, cattle, and deer chew their cuds by regurgitating partially digested vegetable matter and regrinding it with their molars before swallowing it a second time. The hare does not do this. Why then, ask Bible critics, does the Bible call the hare a "cud-chewing animal"?

It has been discovered that the hare does indeed re-eat and re-digest its food. The answer was found within one of the two types of pellets which the hare passes. One pellet is large, dry, hard, has little food value, and is eliminated as waste. The second pellet is soft and encased in a moist membrane.

This pellet is also passed from the hare's body, but it is not permitted to touch the ground. Instead, the animal reaches underneath with its mouth and swallows this pellet, a process called reingestion. The reprocessed pellet provides nourishment and aids digestion by providing lactic acid, potassium, sodium, and phosphorus. This reingestion allows the hare to extract and to utilize nutrients missed the first time.

The discovery of this unique ability points to a Master Designer and once again proves the Bible totally accurate.
