It is false to say that you cannot be a true scientist if you believe in creation. The very founders of the scientific method and the scientists who developed some of the most important foundational principles of modern science were primarily creationists. Creationists find themselves in the company of great men of science such as Robert Boyle, George Washington Carver, Michael Faraday, John Ambrose Fleming, James Joule, Lord Kelvin, Carolus Linneaus, Matthew Maury, Joseph Clerk Maxwell, Gregor Mendel, Samuel F. B. Morse, Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur, William Ramsay, and Leonardo da Vinci. Many scientists (such as Carolus Linneaus, George Washington Carver, and Matthew Maury) claim to have received their inspirational ideas directly from the Bible. There are also many creation scientists today who are top in their fields. Their belief in creation and a young earth has not proven to be a hindrance, but actually an asset to their scientific endeavors.
The discoveries of these great men of science are a testament to their belief in the Creator of a designed universe. Their confidence to pursue scientific discoveries was and continues to be a natural outcome of their belief that discovering how the world works is possible because the universe is the product of an intelligent and all-powerful Designer of order.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. -Psalm 119:130
If the evidence for creation is so strong, why don't more scientists accept this evidence and reject evolution? The primary reason is that science has been defined to eliminate the consideration of God's interaction in creation. Richard Dickerson, a prominent biochemist and member of the elite National Academy of Science, states it this way:
Evolution is not promoted because of the overwhelming evidence supporting this concept. Nor is creation rejected because it is a poor explanation for life's origin. Creation is simply ignored by most scientists because they have been trained to ignore this possibility. They would be accused of "cheating" if they did accept evidence for creation!

"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." -John 8:31-32 NKJV
Louis Pasteur was a dedicated Christian and brilliant scientist, yet if he lived today he would probably be an outcast in the scientific community for refusing to accept the theories of Charles Darwin. During Pasteur's lifetime, most biologists said that life arose from nonliving material.
Pasteur believed that life was created by God. In spite of the opposition that Louis Pasteur received from colleagues, he conducted careful experiments showing life could only come from life. He effectively refuted the claim that life could come from nonliving chemicals. His research also showed that fermentation was caused by tiny yeast cells. This led him to discover that many diseases were caused by living organisms too small to see. As a result of his scientific work, Louis Pasteur not only proved the claims of spontaneous generation of life to be false, but developed vaccines to fight diseases like rabies, diphtheria, and anthrax in the process.
Pasteur once commented that the more he learned in science, the simpler his faith in the plain words of the Holy Scripture became. There is no contradiction between the belief in a supernatural Creator and science.
